Mushroom Palace.

December 3rd, 2007

Went with some friends to see check out this place in person.  It is currently listed as "land" for sale in Westlake which is too bad if it encourages a tear down for a mcmanion (see listing info below).  This place is not only a great design but also in extremely good condition.

The details are amazing.  The lighting and HVAC is indirect and embedded.  There are no interior doors just a flowing curved layout.  The texture you see on the wall is a sprayed on foam that is still soft to the touch and doesn’t seem to flake or shed.   Would make wonderful guest or event house with complementing modern home higher up on the lot (which is 2.5 acres and in a very private valley).

Thanks to Paul to taking us over there and for use of the pictures here.  More pictures can be seen at his blog, Austin ModHouse.

I was at Paul’s site earlier today to see all the other photos. The house is incredible! It’s amazing there is something like this so close to us. I hope it doesn’t get torn down. I hope it goes to someone who will love, use and preserve it!
