Maybe the realtor just plans to refer buyers to the alterstudio website (which has fantastic, professional photos and a great description.) That saves them from paying a professional photographer to shoot the house for them, and also lets them "use" the images on the alter website, essentially, for free. That nickle-and-dime mentality seems out of place for a listing in this range. The realtor DIY photos are awful. And in the meantime, local photographers are out of a potential job, and the alter studio photographer doesn't get paid for the additional use of his/her images.

This was also on the AIA home tour this past Fall. While I would agree that it's "stunning", it seemed to be REALLY standing out in a very monolithic, intense way in a neighborhood of quite different buildings. The views were awesome though!

I agree, for that kinda dough the realtor should write a freakin' book detailing all the features, etc. I see SO many poorly written descriptions, it drives me nuts (like that AD Stenger on Brady, about it being shaped like a TeePee, and that the owner needs to hurry and sell so that he can buy the house - another Stenger I assume - across the street - WTF???), hell, when I sold my house, I had to rewrite the description myself since my realtor was so half-assed about it (and it was in 500K+ range, in San Antonio no less, where that's actually still considered quite a bit of cash - I'm looking in Austin now, and finding 500K doesn't go too far, ugh!). It's a incredibly cool house, amazing really, I LOVE Alter's work, but ANY house in that price range deserves at least a small blurb, just common sense (especially in this market, you think the realtor would kinda get this?).

it wasn't my intent to impugn the house itself, it appears quite nice and Alter Studio does great work in my experience. it also isn't unusual for a house in that price range to take quite some time to sell given, there are homes i've watched in the MLS for 4+ years now.

my comment was fully reserved for the realtor.

for anyone who is interested, follow the links in the comments above to see a better set of photos.

I think a bit more information puts the "on the market for a year" comment in context. I had to opportunity to tour the house with one of Alter Studio's principals, and he shared that the owner enjoyed the design and construction process so much, that he wants to jump right back into another.

It somehow sullies the structure/design/studio to suggest it's languishing in the market, when - in fact - its inhabitant loves it (it IS stunning), and wants to do it all over again.

(Of course, there's no excuse for shoddy marketing!)

I just happened to see that one the other day. It's pictured under the "current" projects section on Alterstudio's website. http://www.alterstudio.net/#/1130
