The builder, Dan Fawcett, and I have traded emails over the years and he has always struck me extraordinarily passionate about what he does. Needless to say I was interested when he said he was going to build a home inspired by Eichler and specifically the A. Quincy Jones designs.
I’ll be going there in a few days, but the pictures are great. The home does display the strong ties to Eichler but also incorporates some local elements not to mention some advancements we’ve come to enjoy since the mid-50s. I don’t see the center atrium many Eichlers are famous for, but in many ways the site seems to call for less inward focus and more outward views. Always deter to the site.
Check out the full gallery here.
Dan put a bunch of pictures up on his site of that were taken through the build process. See those here.
The home just was listed for sale, info here.

Update: Yet more pictures can be seen here. Also a new brochure with more details.

The whole thing is worth having just for the kitchen cabinets alone. Beautiful.

This is a spectacular house. Thanks for the name of the builder. We’re back in Austin in three years from now and looking to buy in Dripping. This is exactly the style we like. Good to know there are both buy and build options. Thanks for your work on this site. It’s a weekly read for me.

And its yours for $899,000! What a bargin for Whoville! And if this one gets snatched up before you get a chance to plunk down your highly deflated greenbacks, no need to worry…there will be another one right down the street.

Really cool house! Close-in for Dripping Springs and worth the drive.

This home has all of the elements of function and beauty, a mid-century masterpiece! An absolute must see in my opinion!

I can just picture all the really cool midcentury furniture in that house. Great glass tile, and those cabinets!

Jim and I finally got a chance to take a run out to see this beauty in person. Double Wow!
Now that we’ve taken the store online living in south Austin looks much more attractive if we could live in something like this! It’s huge, well thought out, and very private. Perfect for the working artist or writer needing a quiet retreat home without the intrusions of city life.
Being only 15 minutes from downtown, we timed it, this is also the perfect home for large parties and entertaining with miles of style. Someone will be very lucky to own this one.
As an aside to the poster who complained that there would be “another one just like it”, I think you are completely wrong. Dan doesn’t mass produce cookie cutter homes on spec, he thought this one out for well over two years and worked hard to create something unique and unlike all the ikea house-in-a-box style new builds all over central Austin. Dan was very careful about creating a bespoke home with all the brilliant aspects of MCM design without adding in the ‘details’ that are too cool to look at but completely unrealistic for actual living. The fact that it’s on a large parcel of land in an area where people value large lots that haven’t been skinned to the property lines practically assures that the new owner won’t be living right next to to anyone let alone a carbon copy.
I highly recommend serious lovers of MCM design go take a look in person. On a clear day the views are stunning!
Cheers, Elle
