agave development

November 28th, 2005

A few of you have emailed about the agave development going on out east of the city. Sadly, I’ve not gone out there first hand so I can’t really comment first hand.

It does look very promising. Especially after recent drawings were put up (the first set didn’t really grab me). There is some discussion over at the Austin livemodern.com for those looking for some more info. (warning: the livemodern site has been flaky lately).

[...] Stenger homes were built for the times. The target Stenger home price was under $20k. Depending on what formula you adhere to, that translate to roughly $150k. It is hard to image that happening in today’s developments. The agava is certainly trying. Stenger in the past has been described as a spec developer. That isn’t strictly true. Stenger bought quite a bit of land and then sought clients. The houses where not built without a buyer. He did, however, work off templates in many cases which where modified as the clients desire and budget allowed. [...]

Prices have gone up considerably…still a great buy thought for the design and energy efficiency. Most homes will run approximately 300,000 or more. Just an update. And there is no negotiation room because of the buzz…However, Fiore is about to start right next to Agave and has a 5 star green rating. They will start at 275,000.

I represent Agave and love it! The designs are so diverse and livable. The neighborhood has really taken shape and looks great. We have a 1360 sf. KRDB home at $249,900 right now. If anyone is interested in finding out more information you can contact me at 512-750-0749 or visit our website http://www.agaveaustin.com.

We are looking at the Rick Black homes in this subdivision. Does anyone know where to find pictures of finished properties. Is the neighborhood good. We really want to live downtown, but these floorplans work for us.
