Modern exterior lines. Inside would need work to bring back to a modern feel. The lot is huge - 18,000+ sqft.
Hopefully someone buys it and invest in keeping this home in the modern style and not a mcmansion tear down like the listing agent suggest.

Any recommendations on a decent MLS search tool? Most of the ones I’ve found are lackluster at best. I tended to use austinhomesearch.com but they stopped letting me search by mls area recently. Not sure what happened there but this is the final straw given how crappy the site is otherwise.
What I want in a search tool:
- Search multiple areas (1A, 2, 4, etc) at one time.
- Save searches strings, ablity to filter by listing date (eg. show all listings after x date).
- Decent map look-up, Google Maps preferred (Mapquest is slow and less useful).
- User definable listings per page (I’ll to scroll through 25+ per page)
- Picture on summary listing
- Loads fast
The filter by listing date is pretty important given how many listings are out there and I tend to comb through. I don’t want to look at the same crappy “mediterranean” mcmansions each time I search for listings. The mediterranean has some great architecture, it is really too bad toll brothers and the like gave it such a bad name.
I’d also like for the site not to be a specific realtors so I if have to link to the listing, it doesn’t seem like I am supporting one particular company over others. I try to link to the realtor website when possible, but it is always surprising how many either don’t have a website, don’t maintain the site with new listings, or have such a poorly designed and built site that you can’t link to it.
Update: It appears the reason for the search by mls area is missing from the austinhomesearch.com site is that the areas were redrawn. Hopefully, the will release the new boundries to the public soon and the site will be back to normal.

These were pretty much exactly the same houses to begin.
The second one recently went up for sale at $184k. Here is the listing. I always hate it when you see such a good opportunity lost with a such a poor update.

This picture shows promise. The others, however, make me reconsider. As it is a less expensive place, I tend to be more forgiving so here it is.

I’ve held off on posting this one. I generally have don’t care for listings which make claims to modern or mid-century design and then provide unrevealing photos. Doesn’t help that there is no realtor website.
However, I can’t stop by and verify right now, so I am putting it up. If anyone knows anything about the place and says it is certainly not living up to their mid-century modern claims, I’ll be happy to pull it down.

Check out Amy Lemen’s article in the Statesman on AD Stenger homes.
I am glad to see Amy was able to talk with his daughter and includes some pictures of Drew Marye’s and Chuck Voelter’s Stenger homes. Chuck is responsible for much of my knowledge of the man himself.
For more pictures and some prior Stenger for sale listings see our Stenger section here.
The article mentions the home he built for John Henry Faulk. This is the home:

One of the great background things about AD Stenger is his love of outdoors. He even produced and sold outdoor films.
